Edward Sidney Aarons was an American fiction writer who produced more than 80 novels in his writing career.
He was born in 1916 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and attended Columbia University where he earned a degree in Literature and History.
He was in the United States Coast Guard during World War II having enlisted after the attack on Pearl Harbour.
Aarons is best known for his spy thrillers, most notably his Assignment series.
This series consists of 48 novels, 42 of which where written by Edward Aarons. The remaining six were published by his brother, William B. Aarons and were ghost written by Lawrence Hill.
The Assignment series follows fictional CIA agent Sam Durell (it is also known as the Sam Durell series) and is set in many countries around the world. While each story is a standalone work there are occasional references to characters and cases from previous novels in the series.
He also wrote under the pseudonyms “Edward Ronns” (a total of 30 novels) and “Paul Ayres” (Dead Heat).
Arrons died on 16 June 1975. [edit]
