Brian Aldiss was born in Norfolk. After active service in Burma and the Far East, he turned to writing; his Horatio Stubbs trilogy reflects those wartime days. His most famous sf novels include Hothouse and the Helliconia trilogy.
He has won all the major SF awards. He has also published contemporary novels, and a Hugo Award-winning history of science fiction, Trillion Year Spree (with David Wingrove).
He is a past chairman of the Society of Authors, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. His most recent work is a collection of short stories, The Secret of This Book.
Brian Aldiss has also collaborated with writers such as Harry Harrison and JG Ballard.
He lives in Oxford, is married and has four children. For many years he was editor of the The Oxford Mail. [edit]
