John Burke was born in Rye, Sussex in 1922, and was brought up in Liverpool where his father was Chief Inspector of Police. In World War II he served with the RAF and in the Royal Marines.
He became Editorial Manager for Paul Hamlyn's Books for Pleasure Group; worked with Shell International Petroleum; and then was European Story Editor for 20th Century Fox Productions.
He has written over eighty books including many 'book of the film' and TV adaptations for Pan including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
His hobbies include music and 'looking at the North Sea from my study window'. He is married and lives in Suffolk. [edit]
