 Patricia Cornwell has been a volunteer police officer, a crime reporter, and a computer analyst in the Chief Medical Examiner's office.
She lives in Richmond, Virginia and also spends time in Los Angeles and New York.
She introduced Dr Kay Scarpetta in her first novel, Postmortem, which won five international awards as the best crime novel of the year. She has also received the Gold Dagger Award for her fourth novel, Cruel and Unusual.
Paricia Cornwell also wrote the Number One bestseller Hornet's Nest, a police procedural novel set in Virginia. [edit]
