Brian Lumley was born in Horden on England's northeast coast in 1937. He joined the Army when he was twenty-one and was stationed in Germany and Cyprus.
While in the army he began to read HP Lovecraft and decided to write some horror tales himself, beginning with the Cthulhu Mythos, established by Lovecraft. He continued with this Lovecraft theme in two series: Dreamlands and the Titus Crow series.
His short stories "Tales of the Primal Land" have been collected in Iced on Aran and Other Dreamquests, Tarra Khash: Hrossok! and Sorcery in Shad, while his more recent short fiction has been published in The House of Cthulhu and Fruiting Bodies and Other Fungi.
He is also the internationally acclaimed bestselling author of the Necroscope and Vampire World series which brings a science-fiction type parallel world with real-life vampires into contact with the Earth and a man with very special talents: necroscope Harry Keogh can commune with the dead.
A career British Army Military Policeman for over twenty years, Brian Lumley has been a highly successful full-time writer since leaving the army.
He lives in Torquay, South Devon. [edit]
