Terence Strong is a British thriller writer who grew up in post-war south London in an area called Battersea Park. As a youngster he enjoyed reading and was inspired by the likes of Biggles, John Buchan, Bulldog Drummond, Raffles, Ernest Hemingway and Ian Fleming.
At the age of sixteen he wrote his first full-length novel with the dream of becoming a foreign correspondent and thriller writer, but decided it wasn’t good enough for publication and chose to pursue regular employment.
He became an advertising copywriter shortly after this and then he won the job of assistant editor at a trade newspaper, becoming editor a year and a half later at the age of twenty.
During this time Strong attempted to write a second novel, but again decided it wasn’t good enough to submit for publication.
After this he became an avid fan of modern war gaming and studied all aspects of warfare, setting him up nicely to write his third novel, Whisper Who Dares (1982), which is now in its eighteenth impression.
Strong has since then written at least a further ten best selling thrillers.
The authenticity of his work can in part be credited to the contacts he has made, including police and customs specialists, hostage negotiators, bodyguards, PI's, professional assassins and all arms of the military. [edit]
