The alien ship was not alone. It was accompanied by seven others of it's kind.

It's kind: gigantic, obvious at first sight not built by human hand. Nine hundred feet long with a diameter of 150 feet. Huge barrel shape rounded in front, blunted at end. Light shimmering at regular intervals from it's circular windows.

And behind those round windows, giant square-shaped shadows ... moving... [edit]
